Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointment to the Michigan Board of Marriage and Family Therapy

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Carolyn Harden of Haslett as well as the reappointment of Laura Mammen of Grand Rapids to the Michigan Board of Marriage and Family Therapy.
The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in overseeing the practice of more than 800 marriage and family therapists.
“I thank Carolyn and Laura for their commitment to this board and I am confident their contributions will positively impact the practices of marriage and family therapists statewide,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
Harden is a senior appointments associate in the Executive Office of Governor Rick Snyder, and previously worked in Senate Majority Leader’s office under Mike Bishop. She attended Lansing Community College. She will represent the general public and replace Terri Grierson.
Reappointment:
Mammen is the multisystemic therapy supervisor at D.A. Blodgett- St. John's hospital, where she conducts individual supervision, weekly group supervision, oversees therapist development planning, and coordinates juvenile probation among various other tasks. She has extensive experience in implementing and in evidence-based family therapy model with an emphasis on teenagers with delinquent behaviors. Mammen holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in counseling education/marriage and family therapy, both from Western Michigan University. She will continue to represent professionals.
Harden will serve a four-year term expiring June 30, 2020. Mammen will serve a four-year term expiring June 30, 2021. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
