LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Edward Hirsch of Farmington Hills to the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund board of directors.
The seven-member board oversees trust fund expenditures and awards grants to eligible combat-era veterans and their families to relieve temporary financial emergencies or hardships.
“I thank Edward for his service on this board as well as his commitment to ensuring veterans and their families receive the assistance they need,” Snyder said.
Hirsch served in the U.S. Army for 26 years. After his time in the Army, Hirsch worked as the executive director of the Detroit District Dental Society and as the chief of dentistry for the Detroit Medical Center before retiring. Hirsch holds a bachelor’s degree from Hobart College and a doctorate of dental surgery from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry. He will represent Jewish War Veterans and will replace Ed Fore.
Hirsch will serve a three-year term expiring February 25, 2020.
