Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointment to the Midwestern Higher Education Compact

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Dr. Bill Pink of Ada and Tyler Sawher of Lansing, as well as the reappointment of David Eisler of Big Rapids to the Midwestern Higher Education Compact.
The Compact, founded in 1991, is one of four interstate compacts that contribute to the vitality of the Midwest by enhancing member states' ability to maximize higher education opportunity and performance through collaboration and resource sharing.
"These individuals have years of experience in education and I am confident in their ability to positively contribute to this compact," Snyder said.
Appointments:
Pink is the president of Grand Rapids Community College. He previously served as the vice president of Oklahoma State University and the associate dean of the University of Central Oklahoma. Pink holds an associate’s degree from York College, a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Christian University, a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a doctorate in curriculum and leadership from the University of Oklahoma. He will represent members at large and fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Stephen Ender.
Sawher is the senior strategy advisor for education and career connections within the Executive Office of Governor Snyder. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Michigan. He will serve as the designee of the Governor of Michigan.
Reappointment:
Eisler is the president of Ferris State University. He previously served as the provost and vice president of academic affairs for Weber State University, the dean of the college of fine arts for Eastern New Mexico University, and the dean of the school of fine arts for Troy State University. Eisler holds both a bachelor’s degree in music and a doctor of musical arts from the University of Michigan as well as a master’s degree in music from Yale University. He will continue to represent members at large.
Pink will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring March 18, 2019, Eisler will serve a four-year term expiring March 18, 2021, and Sawher will serve a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.
