LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of David Mollitor of DeWitt and Eric Thomas of Flint to the Michigan Barrier Free Design Board.
The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with reviewing and processing requests for exceptions to the barrier-free design specifications. It also makes recommendations for barrier-free design rules.
"I thank David and Eric for their commitment to this board and to making Michigan more accessible for those with disabilities," Snyder said.
Mollitor is the president and CEO of Consolidated Electrical Contractors. He is a member of the board of directors for the Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Michigan and the Greater Michigan Construction Academy. Mollitor attended Lansing Community College, Kellogg Community College, and Central Michigan University. He will represent the construction industry and replace Vincent DeLeonardis.
Thomas is the owner of EZ Awareness By Design, a custom apparel and signage company. He is a public speaker, volunteer, and advocate for the disabled. Thomas attended Lansing Community College and Wayne State University. He will represent mobility limited individuals and replace Michael Harris.
Members will serve three-year terms expiring October 31, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
