Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Michigan Wildlife Council

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Matthew Pedigo of Howell, Jeffrey Poet of Clare and Henry Stancato of Detroit to the Michigan Wildlife Council.
Established in 2013, the Michigan Wildlife Council was created to educate the public about the beneficial aspects of hunting and fishing and the essential role that sportsmen and sportswomen play in wildlife conservation. The nine-member council includes the director of the Department of Natural Resources or his designee and eight additional members appointed by the governor.
“I thank this group of individuals for their continued commitment to educating Michiganders on wildlife conservation,” Snyder said.
Pedigo is an engineer for General Motors. He is vice president of the Michigan Bear Hunters Association and is an active hunter and fisherman. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University. He will continue to represent individuals who regularly purchase hunting or fishing licenses in this state.
Poet is president of Jay’s Sporting Goods, Inc. He has held numerous positions on the boards of the National Association of Firearms Retailers, the Archery Trade Association, Sports Incorporated, and other advisory boards. Poet holds an associate’s degree in business from Northwood University. He will continue to represent local businesses in this state that are substantially impacted by hunting and fishing.
Stancato is a member of Stancato Tragge Wells PLLC. He is an avid fisherman and has been practicing law for more than 35 years. Stancato holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Brandeis University and a law degree from Wayne State University Law School. He will continue to represent individuals who regularly purchase hunting or fishing licenses in this state
Members will serve four-year terms expiring March 31, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
