Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment and reappointment to the Farm Produce Insurance Authority

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Theodore (Ted) Crowley of Ravenna and the reappointment of Mark Metz of Ida to the Farm Produce Insurance Authority.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the 10-member board establishes, administers and promotes the Farm Produce Insurance Fund.
“I thank Ted and Mark for their commitment to promoting the mission of protecting producers under the Farm Produce Insurance Fund,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
Crowley is the owner of Crowley Farms and was the Muskegon County Farm Bureau president for six years. He retired in 2003 from a 30-year career with General Motors. He will represent producers from the largest Michigan organization representing general farm interests in Michigan and replace Paul Koeman.
Reappointment:
Metz owns a 700-acre farm producing wheat, soybeans and corn. He is a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, the Monroe County Farm Bureau, is chairman of the Ida Township Planning Commission, and is president of the board of directors of the Ida Farmer’s Co-operative Co. Metz holds an associate’s degree from Monroe County Community College. He will continue to represent the largest Michigan organization exclusively representing wheat producers in Michigan.
Members will serve three-year terms expiring June 20, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
