LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Kelli Scott of Battle Creek to the Michigan Municipal Services Authority and its executive committee.
The MMSA encourages best practices, teamwork and interlocal cooperation between municipalities and school districts. The 12-member authority oversees the development of shared services in which any interested community or school district can choose to participate. The interlocal agreement between the cities of Grand Rapids and Livonia allows communities to collaborate on the delivery of services, including information technology, finance and accounting, payroll processing, and health care services.
“As we continue reinventing state government, it’s increasingly important that cooperation between municipalities and school districts is facilitated,” Snyder said. “I thank Kelli for her commitment to this authority and to ensuring this collaboration continues well into the future.”
Scott is the administrator/controller of Calhoun County. In this role, she serves as the chief administrative, fiscal, and public information officer with direct supervision of finance, administrative services, human resources, health department, equalization, road department, and all appointed department heads for the county of Calhoun. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master of public administration, both from the University of Michigan. She will fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Alan Vanderberg and will represent local public agencies on the executive committee.
Scott will serve a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor. On the Authority’s Executive Committee she will serve the remainder of a term expiring September 17, 2017.
