LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Kristin Ahrens of Wixom, Tatyana Chatman of Hudsonville and Lori Glenn of White Lake to the Michigan Board of Nursing.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 24-member board establishes qualifications for nurse licensure, approves standards for nurse education programs and takes disciplinary action against licensees when the health, safety, and welfare of the public has been adversely affected.
“I thank these individuals for their commitment to establishing nursing standards in Michigan that uphold the health, safety and welfare of residents and I’m confident their combined experience will be an asset to the board,” Snyder said.
Ahrens is a pediatric nurse practitioner for Detroit Country Day Schools, and is an adjunct professor for South University in Novi. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, and a master’s degree in nursing and a doctor of nursing from Case Western Reserve University. She will represent nurse practitioners and replace Elaine Leigh.
Chatman is a licensed practical nurse (LPN) with Lakeshore Home Health Care Service, an aide for the Early Childhood Center, a LPN at Brookcrest Nursing Home, and secretary for Champion Force Athletics. She holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Mississippi, and attended Coahoma Community College for practical nursing. She will represent licensed practical nurses and replace Denise Howard.
Glenn is a certified nurse midwife at Mid-Michigan Midwifery, Hurley Medical Center, and is a clinical associate professor and chair for the accelerated second degree option program at the McAuley School of Nursing, University of Detroit-Mercy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mercy College of Detroit, a master’s degree in nurse-midwifery from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a doctor of nursing practice from the University of Detroit Mercy. She will represent nurse midwives, and replace Amy Zoll.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
