Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointment to the Michigan Health Information Technology Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Norman Beauchamp of Grand Rapids and Meredith Harper of Westland as well as the reappointment of Patricia Rinvelt of Ann Arbor to the Michigan Health Information Technology Commission.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the 13-member commission facilitates and promotes the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of Michigan's health care information infrastructure.
“I thank these individuals for their commitment to bettering Michigan’s healthcare information systems,” Snyder said.
Appointments:
Beauchamp is the dean of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and previously served as a professor and chairman of the Department of Radiology at the University of Washington. Beauchamp holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a medical doctorate, both from Michigan State University, and a master of health science from the John Hopkins School of Public Health. He will represent schools of medicine in Michigan and replace Mark Notman.
Harper is the chief information privacy and security officer for the Henry Ford Health System and a faculty member of Clearwater Compliance, LLC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and a master’s degree in healthcare services administration from the University of Detroit Mercy, and this year is expecting to receive a master of jurisprudence in health regulation and policy from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She will represent hospitals and replace Peter Schonfeld.
Reappointment:
Rinvelt is the executive director of the National Network of Depression Centers, and previously served as the senior vice president of care management solutions for Truven Health Analytics. She is an adjunct lecturer at the Eastern Michigan University College of Health and Human Services and has more than 25 years of leadership experience in health care analytics, database operations management, and product and solution development. Rinvelt holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and computer science from Smith College and a master’s degree in finance and computer information systems from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. She will continue to represent purchasers or employers.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring August 3, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
