Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointment to the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Sarah Peterson of Niles and Laurie Isley of Palmyra to the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee.
The committee oversees the soybean marketing program in Michigan.
"Sarah and Laurie have years of farming experience and I thank them for their continued commitment to Michigan food and agriculture," Snyder said.
Peterson works at MK Peterson Farm, a third-generation family farm. They farm 1,500 acres of corn and soybeans, as well as raise beef cows, fat cattle, and draft horses. Peterson is active with the Cass County Farm Bureau. Peterson holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science and agribusiness management from Michigan State University and completed Annie’s Project, a farm management for women program. She will continue to represent growers.
Isley is the co-owner of Sunrise Farms, Inc., a third-generation farm. She farms approximately 1,000 acres. She also serves as the Lenawee County Farm Bureau president. Isley holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and natural resources education from Michigan State University, a second teaching minor certificate in biology from Eastern Michigan University, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University. She will continue to represent growers.
Members serve three-year terms expiring Sept. 23, 2020. Appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
