Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Board of Barber Examiners

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Phillip Smith III of Brooklyn and Michaela Reardon of Grosse Pointe Woods to the Board of Barber Examiners.
The nine-member board is housed in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and assists the department with oversight for the services of barbers, barber students, barber colleges, barber instructors, student instructors, and barbershops in Michigan.
“I thank Phillip and Michaela for their continued commitment to this commission," Snyder said.
Smith is a barber and the owner of The Grand Barbershop LLC. He was co-owner of Cosmos Hair Design and served as a quality inspector for Ford Motor Co. Smith attended Jackson College and received his barber certificate from the Lansing Barber and Styling College. He will continue to represent barbers.
Reardon is an executive assistant for Continental Catering & Events at Forte Belanger, and served as cruise director for Infinity and Ovation Yacht Charter. She attended Central Michigan University. She will continue to represent the general public.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring Sept. 30, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
