LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Dru Montri of Bath to the Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The five-member bipartisan commission has the responsibility to recommend and, in some cases, determine policy on food, agriculture, and rural development issues. No more than three members may be from the same political party.
“Dru has shown to be a proven asset to this commission and I thank her for her continued commitment,” Snyder said.
Montri owns and operates Ten Hens Farm year-round with her husband in Bath. In addition to managing their own farm, Montri has been committed to regional food system work. She has been the director of the Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA) since its inception in 2006. Montri holds a bachelor’s degree in horticulture from Michigan State University, a master’s degree in horticulture from Pennsylvania State University, and a dual PhD in horticulture and community, agriculture, recreation and resource studies from Michigan State University. She will continue to represent Independents.
Montri will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2021. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
