Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Lynn Kaiser of Flat Rock, Valerie Palmer of Kalamazoo, and Janet Santos of Saline to the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists.
The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in overseeing the licensure and practice of Michigan's occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants.
“I thank these individuals for their continued work overseeing Michigan’s occupational therapists,” Snyder said.
Kaiser is an occupational therapist for Performax Physical Therapy and previously served as an occupational assistant for Wyandotte Physical Therapy Associates, Total Rehab Services, and Healthwise Home Health Care. Kaiser holds a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Eastern Michigan University. She will continue to represent occupational therapists.
Palmer is an administrative assistant at the Heritage Community of Kalamazoo, and previously served in fund development at the Black Arts & Cultural Center. She also is a chamber ambassador for Southwest Michigan First Chamber, certified tourism ambassador for Discover Kalamazoo, and served as the fundraising chair for ACT-SO Youth Branch of the NAACP. Palmer holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Southern California. She will continue to represent the general public.
Santos is an occupational therapist with the University of Michigan Medical Center Outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation Program. She provides outpatient occupational therapy to individuals 0-20 years of age with developmental delay, neurological impairment, feeding difficulties, and sensory processing difficulties as well as assisting with the coordination of the constraint induced therapy program (CHAMP). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences in occupational therapy from Ohio State University. She will continue to represent occupational therapists.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring Dec.31, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
