Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointments to the Dairy Marketing Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Carol A. Marz-Evans of Litchfield and Daniel Van Dyke of Marne as well as the reappointments of Brian Preston of Quincy, Rodney Daniels of Whittemore and Bryan Hull of Fenwick to the Michigan Dairy Marketing Committee.
The 13-member committee, established in 1965, oversees the budget and operations of the dairy producer marketing program which supports the Michigan dairy industry.
“I thank these individuals for their support and commitment to the production and promotion of Michigan dairy products,” Snyder said.
Appointments:
Marz-Evans is the CFO of Evans Farms and is responsible for the financial, operational and human resource function for the family owned dairy farm. Marz-Evans also held positions as the operations manager, plant quality assurance manager and a plant technologist for Con-Agra, Inc. Marz-Evans will represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association and replace Heather Wing.
Van Dyke has farmed for more than 19 years for J & J Dairy where he is currently the facilities manager. Van Dyke additionally serves on the Wright Township Planning Commission, the board of directors for the Dairy Farmers of America, and the board of directors for the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. He will represent Dairy Farmers of America and replace Wayne Rodgers.
Reappointments:
Preston is the owner of Preston Farms where he is the fourth generation on the family farm. Preston has more than 1,000 acres and raises dairy cows and replacement heifers. He previously served as a livestock and market development specialist in MDARD. Preston is the National Young Cooperator Chair of the National Milk Producers Federation, serves on the board of the County Farm Bureau and was named the Michigan Milk Producers Association Outstanding Young Dairy Cooperator. Preston holds a bachelor’s degree in agriscience, agribusiness management from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association.
Daniels is the owner of WRL Daniels Farm LLC, where he has more than 1,300 acres and 870 dairy cattle. He has farmed for 47 years. Daniels serves on the NorthStar Advisory Committee, the Michigan Milk Producers Association state board and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan board. He studied agriculture technology at Michigan State University. He will continue to represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association.
Hull is the owner of Hull’s Dairy Farm LLC, a 600-acre farm. The farm grows its own corn, hay and wheat as well as raises replacement heifers. Hull serves on the board of the United Dairy Industry of Michigan and is a member of the Mid East Area Council for Dairy Farmers of America. He will continue to represent the Dairy Farmers of America.
Appointees will serve three-year terms to expire Dec. 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
