Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Michigan Board of Medicine

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Richard Bates of Ossineke to the Michigan Board of Medicine.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the board oversees the practice of medicine and serves as the state's licensing board. It includes 19 members: 10 doctors, one physician's assistant, and eight public members.
“Richard and this board work hard to ensure Michiganders receive the best medical care possible and I thank him for his service," Snyder said.
Bates is a physician and the vice president of medical affairs for Mid-Michigan Medical Center and is a member of the American Association of Physician Leaders. He holds a bachelor's degree from Alma College, a master's degree from Michigan State University, a medical degree from Wayne State University and is on track to becoming a certified physician executive. He will continue to represent physicians.
Bates will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2021. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
