LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Ronald Wiles Jr. of Grand Blanc to the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission.
Housed within the Michigan Department of State Police, Office of Highway Safety Planning, the 11-person commission identifies traffic safety challenges and works to develop, promote, and implement strategies to support traffic safety programs.
"I thank Ronald for his commitment to protecting Michiganders on the road," Snyder said.
Wiles is the chief of police for Grand Blanc Township. He has served 22 years in law enforcement and is co-chair of the Advocates and Leaders for Police and Community Trust. Wiles holds a bachelor’s degree in geological sciences from Michigan State University and attended the Northeastern Police Academy at Delta College. He will represent local units of government and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of James Carmody.
Wiles will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring May 27, 2020.
