Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments to the Michigan Board of Professional Surveyors

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Andrew Kurncz of St. Johns and Timothy Platz of Sand Lake to the Michigan Board of Professional Surveyors.
The nine-member board assists the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in overseeing the practice of professional surveyors.
“I thank Andrew and Timothy for their commitment to this board,” Snyder said.
Kurncz is a managing director of performance management for Emerging Markets, a division of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. He previously served as a manager of financial performance and analysis for Accident Fund Holdings, Inc. He serves on the board of directors for Highfields in Jackson, and is a member of the supervisory committee for Journey Federal Credit Union. Kurncz holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University. He will represent the general public and replace Jeffrey Hertrich.
Platz is vice president and a survey department head for Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr and Huber, a consulting firm that specializes in engineering, environmental sciences, architecture, and construction management. He holds bachelor’s degrees in surveying engineering and plastics engineering technology from Ferris State University. He will represent professional surveyors and replace Steven Gravlin.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring March 31, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
