LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Dennis Argyle of Freeland, Darcy Kerr of Sunfield, Sharon Miller of Sylvan Lake, Tony Retaskie of Marquette, William Peterson of Harrison Twp. and Gregory Winter of Alpena to the Talent Investment Board.
The Governor’s Talent Investment Board is charged with advising and assisting the Governor regarding compliance with the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The board brings together employers, organized labor and community-based organizations including apprenticeship programs to make recommendations on how to best develop workforce talent across the state.
"I thank these individuals for stepping up to help produce strategies for how we can close the talent gap and develop a statewide workforce that is ready to fill the jobs of the future,” Snyder said.
Argyle is senior vice president and chief financial officer of Saginaw-based Knight Facilities Management Inc. He previously served as controller and vice president of finance for Tandem Transport and as an auditor with the accounting firm, Maner Costerisan. Argyle holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Central Michigan University. He will continue to represent the private sector.
Kerr is the senior vice president of human resources at COBX. She previously served as the senior manager of talent and organization performance for Accenture. Kerr holds a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and a master’s degree in labor relations and human resources from Michigan State University. She will continue to represent the private sector.
Miller is the Michigan Talent Architect for Consumers Energy. She previously served as the vice chancellor of external affairs and dean of economic and workforce development at Oakland Community College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oakland University and a master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. She will continue to represent the private sector.
Retaskie is the executive director of the Upper Peninsula Construction Council and serves as co-chair of Michigan Works!. Retaskie is a certified electrician licensed in the state of Michigan and a graduate of a four-year electrical apprenticeship training program. He will continue to represent labor/apprenticeships.
Peterson is the UAW coordinator of the Skilled Trades Department, previously serving as the assistant to the vice president of UAW International Skilled Trades Department. He graduated as a tool and die maker in 1985. He will continue to represent labor/apprenticeships.
Winter is president of Omni Metalcraft Corp., which he co-founded in 1976. He is a past board member of Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce and Target Alpena Economic Development Corporation. He will continue to represent the private sector.
Members will serve three-year terms expiring April 15, 2021.
