Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Michigan Beef Industry Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Jon Haindl of Cooks, Leonard Brown of Sandusky and Dale Oeschger of Bay Port to the Michigan Beef Industry Commission.
The nine-member commission promotes the sale of beef and beef products in the state.
“Michigan’s food and agriculture sector is a key part of our economic foundation,” Snyder said. “Beef sales are important to maintaining Michigan’s prospering agricultural economy, and I thank these individuals for promoting and advancing this industry.”
Haindl is the owner of Jarhian Farms and has more than 50 years of experience as a cow/calf producer. He previously served on the Michigan Potato Industry Commission and will continue to represent cattle growers.
Brown is the owner of Brown Brothers Farms. He has served as the township supervisor of Sandusky for 28 years and will continue to represent dairy farmers.
Oeschger is the owner of Lindale Farms. He has more than 48 years of experience in farming and beef production. Additionally, Oeschger has been involved with the Huron County Farm Bureau, Michigan Cattlemen’s Association, Thumb Breadbasket Distribution and Huron County Michigan State Extension Board. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Michigan State University and will continue to represent cattle feeders.
Members will serve three-year terms expiring May 31, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
