Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Board of Real Estate Appraisers

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Thomas Watson of Midland and the reappointments of Phyllis Howard of Muskegon and James Hartman of East Lansing to the Michigan Board of Real Estate Appraisers.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the nine-member board licenses and regulates the service of more than 6,000 real estate appraisers.
“I thank these individuals for their dedication to the Board of Real Estate Appraisers,” Snyder said. “Each appointee has a diverse background and perspective that I am confident will greatly benefit this board.”
Appointment:
Watson has more than 15 years of experience as the owner of the real estate appraisal company, Peterson & Watson. Watson previously worked as a senior appraiser at Mutual Savings Bank and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University. He will represent state licensed real estate appraisers and replace Maureen Mausolf.
Reappointment:
Howard is an educator at EduStaff, an organization that provides educational staffing and human resource services for schools. She holds a bachelor’s degree in retail management from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in adult education and training from the University of Phoenix. She will continue to represent the general public.
Hartman is the president of Oetzel-Hartman Group, a real estate appraisal company. He previously worked as an appraiser for Maloney Appraisal Company, Inc. and holds a bachelor’s degree in financial administration from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent certified general real estate appraisers.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
