Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointments to the Michigan Board of Nursing

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Jason Puscas of Detroit, Donald (Scott) Richardson of East Grand Rapids, Cerise Tounsel of West Bloomfield and the reappointments of Jackeline Iseler of Grand Rapids and Victoria Sachs of Okemos to the Michigan Board of Nursing.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 24-member board establishes qualifications for nurse licensure, approves standards for nurse education programs and takes disciplinary action against licensees when the health, safety and welfare of the public has been adversely affected.
“I thank these individuals for devoting their time and expertise to this board,” Snyder said. “Their input will ensure Michiganders receive proper medical treatment and care.”
Appointments:
Puscas is the director of government relations for the Detroit Regional Chamber and previously served as the legislative director for former state Rep. Frank Foster. Puscas holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Grand Valley State University and a law degree from Western Michigan University – Cooley Law School. He will represent the general public and replace Lars Egede-Nissen.
Richardson is the vice president for administrative services at Grand Valley State University and has been serving the university in various leadership positions for 40 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and business administration and a master’s degree in human resources management and finance from Central Michigan University. He will represent the general public and replace Kristoffer Tobbe.
Tounsel retired in 2013 as a high school guidance counselor and consultant for Detroit Public Schools. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and psychology and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Michigan. She will represent the general public and replace Reginald Armstrong.
Reappointments:
Iseler is a program director for the Clinical Nurse Specialist Concentration and an assistant professor for the College of Nursing at Michigan State University. She previously served as a cardiothoracic transplant and voluntary aid detachment (VAD) clinical nurse specialist for the Richard DeVos Heart and Lung Transplant Program at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bradley University, a master’s degree in nursing from Winona State University and a doctorate in nursing practice from Michigan State University. She will continue to represent clinical nurse specialists.
Sachs is an advocacy professional and freelance website designer. She previously served as the external affairs director for the Executive Office of Governor Rick Snyder. Sachs studied political science at Oakland University and will continue to represent the general public.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
