LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Brandon Tucker of Toledo, Ohio to the Michigan Council on Future Mobility.
The 21-member Council was created by PA 322 of 2016 and is housed within the Department of Transportation. The council provides the Governor and Legislature with recommendations for state policy changes to ensure Michigan continues to be the world leader in automated, driverless and connected vehicle technology.
"Michigan has always been a leader in mobility and this council works to not only keep up with the industry, but lead the world in automotive innovation,” Snyder said. “I thank Brandon for bringing his skill in talent development to this council.”
Tucker is the dean of Advanced Technology and Public Service Careers at Washtenaw Community College. At WCC, he puts a special emphasis on developing talent, a major priority of the council. Under his direction, WCC has built partnerships with the University of Michigan's MCity, a first-of-its-kind controlled environment for testing connected and automated vehicle technologies and the Square One Education Network, which supports educators developing tomorrow's workforce. Tucker is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was named one of Crain’s Detroit Business 40 under 40 in 2017. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo, a master’s degree from Lourdes University and is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education from the University of Toledo.
Tucker will serve a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.
