LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Kristen McDonald of Bay City and Hiram Fitzgerald of DeWitt to the Early Childhood Investment Corporation.
Created in 2005, the 18-member board is the state's leading group for information about and investment in early childhood programs.
“Early childhood programs help provide Michigan’s youth with a path toward success, and I thank Kristen and Hiram for continuing to support these programs," Snyder said.
McDonald is the president and CEO of Greater Midland Community Centers and previously was the vice president of the Skillman Foundation. McDonald holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Michigan.
Fitzgerald is a university distinguished professor and associate provost for university outreach and engagement at Michigan State University. He is the past president and executive director of the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health and the International Association for Infant Mental Health. He served as the executive director of the World Association for Infant Mental Health for 16 years and is founder and co-chair of the MSU interdepartmental specialization in infancy and early childhood graduate program. Fitzgerald holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology from Lebanon Valley College and a master’s degree in experimental psychology and docotorate in developmental psychology from the University of Denver.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring July 22, 2022.
