LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Sterling Riethman of Kalamazoo and Rita Wieber of DeWitt to the Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect.
The board promotes the health, safety and welfare of Michigan's children and families by funding local programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect.
“I thank Sterling and Rita for keeping families and children safe by ensuring these preventative programs and services remain available to all Michigan residents,” Snyder said.
Riethman is a marketing specialist at Bell’s Brewery and previously served as the marketing and brand manager for Greenleaf Hospitality – Radisson Plaza Hotel & Suites. She also served as a board member for the Downtown Kalamazoo Retail & Restaurant Association, a task force member of Downtown Kalamazoo Incorporated and as a member of the junior leadership committee for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Riethman holds a bachelor’s degree from Denison University and will represent adult former child victims of child abuse or neglect and fill a vacancy.
Wieber is a registered nurse at Sparrow Hospital and an adjunct faculty member at Lansing Community College. She previously served as the director of the Michigan Center for Preventative Medicine and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Olivia Kay Foundation. Wieber holds an associate degree in nursing from Lansing Community College School of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Baker College, a bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree from Michigan State University. She will represent parents and fill a vacancy.
Riethman will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018 and Wieber will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2019.
