LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Leigh Elceser of Clarkston and Ryan Thornton of Byron Center to the Michigan Board of Chiropractic.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the nine-member board sets entry-level competency standards for health practitioners and verifies continuing education during licensure, protecting and promoting the public's health, safety and welfare.
“Leigh and Ryan are both experienced chiropractors with vast knowledge of the field,” Snyder said. “I am confident they will be great assets to this board.”
Elceser is a licensed chiropractor and the owner of Joslyn Chiropractic Center in Pontiac. She holds a bachelor’s degree in science and a doctorate in chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. She will represent professionals and replace Thomas Klapp.
Thornton is a licensed chiropractor and the president of Byron Center Chiropractic. He is a board member of the Byron Center Downtown Development Authority, a founding board member of the Byron Center Bite Cancer Foundation and the president of PK Thornton Properties. He holds a bachelor’s degree in science and a doctorate in chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He will represent professionals and replace Christophe Dean.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
