Security in Places of Worship Training - Detroit
The Michigan State Police is hosting a Security in Places of Worship Training on June 18 at Wayne State University-McGregor Memorial Conference Center.
This training course is designed for increasing safety and building resiliency directed at places of worship. Thanks to this in-person training, individuals or groups may begin, or improve upon, the safety of their building and congregation.
This course is intended to provide students with the skills to:
- Create a new safety team.
- Develop a security plan.
- Perform a vulnerability assessment.
- Establish a culture of safety within your place of worship.
- Identify a building perimeter’s weaknesses and strengths.
- Build a medical “go” kit and train your safety team.
- Expand upon legal considerations when carrying a concealed weapon in a place of worship.
- Encourage individuals to respond to a violent critical incident with confidence.
To register, create an account in the Professional Development Learning Center and search “Security in Places of Worship.” Please note: New accounts may take up to 72 hours to be approved, so don’t wait to sign up! The deadline to register is Thursday, June 11 by 8 a.m.
