Join author, photographer and historian Dale A. Carlson as he recounts the burial sites and known biographies of over twenty soldiers of the American Revolution who came west in the post-Revolutionary War years and were buried or interred in the Detroit area. Soldiers covered in this one-hour presentation include Private James Robinson, who was born enslaved but died free at the age of 115, Colonel John Francis Hamtramck, after whom the Detroit suburb was named, Major Thompson Maxwell, who participated in the Boston Tea Party, and Stephen Mack, who co-founded the city of Pontiac. Carlson's lecture is accompanied by a PowerPoint slideshow full of compelling historical and contemporary images regarding the sites, soldiers and histories discussed. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
