Construction Plan Review and Permits Plan reviews and construction permits are provided in three different agencies: the Bureau of Construction Codes , the Bureau of Health Systems , and the Bureau of Fire Services.
The Bureau of Construction Codes is responsible for the administration of the Construction Code Act, the Building Officials Registration Act, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and licensing laws, as well as the boiler and elevator programs. The Plan Review Division provides examinations to assure the construction project is designed in compliance with the code.
The Health Facilities Evaluation Section of the Bureau of Health Systems performs plan review and issues construction permits for construction or renovation of health care facilities.
The Bureau of Fire Services performs plan review and issues permits for construction for schools, health care facilities, penal facilities; and state owned and leased facilities;
The DTMB is an Authorized Public Agency for managing Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control for projects managed by DTMB.

The State Administrative Board approves contracts and leases, oversees the state capital outlay process and settles claims against the State under $1,000.00. The Building Committee reviews and recommends design and construction issues.
