Letter from the Director
February 2021
Dear Colleagues,
I've been on the job for nearly five months now, and I continue to be impressed by the caliber and work ethic of our incredible team. In the middle of a pandemic, while working from home -- with all the stresses and complications that brings -- we continue to make significant progress, day in and day out, on the work MDCR was created to do. Know how important I consider your contributions, and how much I appreciate your dedication to our mission.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge everyone who submitted recipes for the MDCR Quarantine Cookbook, and to thank Shelia McBride and Jackie Debusschere for pulling it all together. If you would like to see your recipe featured in the cookbook, there's still time. Send your favorites to Shelia and Jackie and they will add them to the next update.
I also want to thank Jeannette Johnson, Jackie Debusschere and Vicki Levengood for their work to bring to life a concept Vicki and I first discussed last month - our Black History Month social media campaign featuring four Michigan civil rights leaders. Read more about it in this newsletter and follow the campaign throughout the month of February on MDCR's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Lastly, I want to extend a warm welcome to the new members of the Michigan Civil Rights Commission. I look forward to working with each of you in the months ahead.
Director White
