Kurt Steinkamp
Chief of Staff
Kurt Steinkamp was appointed Chief of Staff of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) in August 2023. In this role, he supports the Executive Director in overseeing the agency’s strategic initiatives and regulatory responsibilities across Michigan’s dynamic gaming landscape.
Mr. Steinkamp brings over two decades of compliance and regulatory experience to his position, including serving as Deputy Director of Licensing & Investigations and holding various management positions since joining the agency in 2011. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing several key agency initiatives, including the successful transition of the charitable gaming “Millionaire Party” program to MGCB oversight, the launch and regulation of internet gaming and sports betting in Michigan, and the development and enforcement of strategies to deter and combat illegal gambling operations statewide.
Before joining the MGCB, Mr. Steinkamp held audit and compliance roles at Masco Corporation in Livonia and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services in Farmington Hills. His professional background includes expertise in gaming regulation, fraud investigations, corporate compliance, and anti-corruption practices.
He holds a degree in accounting from Eastern Michigan University and maintains professional designations as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
