Outdoor Adventure Center - Active Aging Adventures Senior Stroll: Spring Wildflower Walk at Maybury State Park
Join a naturalist for a casual stroll through one of our state parks or local historic areas. For each stroll, we’ll focus on a topic related to natural or cultural history. Wear your walking shoes and dress for the weather – we’ll go out rain, snow or shine!
In May, the woods are a-bloomin,’ and we’re off to enjoy their beauty! Spring is a wonderful time in the woods, as many flowers make the best of their brief moment in the sun before the trees leaf out. It’s also a good time for birding, as returning migrants will be more visible among the fallen leaves and bare branches.
The first part of the walk is a generally level, mostly paved trail. Further exploration will take place along unpaved trails with some sloped terrain. Bring your hiking shoes, walking stick, camera and binoculars (if you have them; we’ll have additional binoculars to loan), and pack a lunch if you want to stay and enjoy a little more time in this beautiful park.
This is an outdoor event held rain or shine; please dress for the weather.
This is a free, outdoor event. A Recreation Passport is required to enter Maybury State Park.
