Join us for this monthly series observing and identifying the birds of Belle Isle! Location within the island will vary by month, according to where the birds are! Detailed directions for parking will be provided with registration. A limited number of binoculars are available for loan, and a spotting scope will be available for viewing when appropriate. All skill levels welcome!
We will meet at the following locations for each program:
October 11 and November 22: The parking area at the Trout Lily trailhead. The trail is a flat, 1.5-mile loop with both paved and unpaved sections.
December 13: First parking area past the toll booth (veer to the right after the MacArthur bridge). We will caravan to several locations on the island to view waterbirds in the Detroit River and the Belle Isle lakes.
Note that this is an offsite program taking place at Belle Isle Park.
This is an outdoor event held rain or shine; please dress for the weather.
Preregistration is required. This is a free offsite event. A Recreation Passport is required to enter Belle Isle Park.
