Kelsie Richards
Wellness Coordinator
As a new member of the Wellness Team, I am honored to begin work helping the amazing staff and families of the Michigan Department of Corrections. Throughout my life I have always been involved in a helping profession. Prior to joining the department, I worked in domestic violence and substance use treatment and prevention in the Lansing area. I have experience with mental health treatment in the private sector, as well as the jail setting. After earning my Master of Social Work from Michigan State University, I began my career with the MDOC. Since that time, I have worked as a Qualified Mental Health Professional at Parnall Correctional Facility (SMT) and G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility (JCF). I have had the privilege of seeing first-hand the impact this line of work can have on staff and their families. Having a supportive network and helping hand to turn to is key to maintaining personal wellbeing. When not serving others, I enjoy spending time traveling, hiking, camping, experiencing new cultures, living the ‘soccer mom’ life and spending time with my family.
