Sandra Powell
Wellness Coordinator
With 25+ years serving employees in the private sector, and time as an educator, I enjoy taking that experience and incorporating into my work as a mental health specialist within the MDOC. I enjoy the developmental nature of my work and exploring new ideas. I also believe that working alongside employees and incorporating the many ideas we have as a corrections community, together we can discover creative ways to promote a sense of mental, emotional, and physical health and well-being.
Life is a learning experience. As a life-long learner, I enjoy exploring and researching different ideas related to personality, spirituality, work, and work/life balance. It helps to spend time with my grandson; this keeps me current and relevant with understanding today’s ways of thinking from a kid’s perspective. In my free time I love hanging out with my family and friends, walking my dog, and taking road trips to new places.
