The Michigan Parole and Commutation Board will hold a public hearing on Thursday, July 30, 2009 , to consider the possible commutation of sentence for John Russell Nelson, #096565. It will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the Duane Waters Health Center, Jackson, Michigan.
John Russell Nelson was sentenced on December 4, 2006, from Iosco County to a term of 7y2m - 15y for the crime of Robbery Unarmed, to a term of 2y - 4y for the crime of Insurance Fraud, and to a term of 2y - 5y for the crime of Attempted Safe Breaking. He was sentenced on March 7, 2007, from Arenac County to a term of 10y6m -22y6m for the crime of 2nd Robbery Unarmed. John Russell Nelson was also sentenced on April 2, 2007, from Bay County, to a term of 10y6m - 22y6m for the crime of Conspire Robbery Armed and to a term of 10y6m - 22y6m for the crime of Robbery Armed.
The hearing is required under MCLA 791.244 prior to any recommendation for executive clemency by the Michigan Parole and Commutation Board.
