Blue Star Service Dogs

Three MDOC facilities partner with Blue Star Service Dogs, where incarcerated individuals assist in training dogs as service animals for veterans and first responders. Dogs are selected from shelters and rescues across the state, arrive at MDOC facilities where they begin their training. Because veterans have unique qualities and needs, the dogs are individually trained to meet the needs of their veterans.
