The training will begin on June 23 and runs through June 27.

WHO: 350 MING service members
WHAT: Northern Exposure provides structured individual and unit training to satisfy the training requirements associated with responding to natural disasters and domestic response scenarios.
WHEN: June 23-27
WHERE: Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, Grayling, MI

“Northern Exposure is a bi-annual exercise designed to train MING service members in domestic response operations while enhancing interagency and intergovernmental partnerships,” said Capt. Adam Dzwik, lead exercise planner for the MING. “This year’s training event focusses on public safety and security, mass casualty care, emergency assistance, energy restoration and supply and coordinating communications within a joint multi-agency response environment. The MING is committed to the safety of local Michigan communities and this training exercise is critical to the unit’s preparation to support future 2024 events.”

The five-day training event provides realistic, constructive and simulated operating environments for the participants while working alongside local, county, state and federal partners ensuring the MING units are trained and ready to support civil authorities when requested. The training will improve interagency cooperation and facilitate a better understanding of each organization’s capabilities. NE is held bi-annually in different Michigan counties and previous exercise scenarios have included floods, fires, civil disturbance, explosions and chemical spills.
