The Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs administers a variety of competitive and non-competitive grants to veteran-servicing organizations across the state.

Statewide Veteran Service Provision Grant

The Statewide Veteran Service Provision Grant (SVSPG) is a competitive grant that is intended to increase the number of veterans applying for service-connected disability compensation, the number of VA health care enrollment applications and the number of all other benefit claims. In FY25, more than $4 million was distributed to the Michigan Veterans Coalition, which is comprised of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Veterans of America.

County Veteran Service Fund Grant

The County Veterans Service Fund Grant (CVSFG) aims to strengthen connections between veterans, eligible dependents and survivors with federal veteran benefits they may not have previously accessed. In support of DMVA's goal to exceed the national average in benefit connection rates, the program funds initiatives that increase awareness of available benefits and services at the federal, state and local levels.

Veteran Homelessness Prevention Grant

The Veteran Homelessness Prevention Grant (VHPG) is a competitive grant that assists those service members, veterans and their families who are experiencing, or who are at risk of experiencing, homelessness. In FY25, $1,500,000 was distributed to six participating organizations.
