Michigan Education and Training Voucher

 The ETV program allows Michigan to provide up to $5,000 per year to a student in an accredited programs such as:

*College  *Trade School  *University 

 Youth eligible for the ETV program include:
  • Youth who are or have been in an eligible foster care placement, on or after their 14th birthday, through the State of Michigan. 
  • Youth adopted from foster care or placed in relative guardianship from foster care after their 16th birthday (if adoption or guardianship occurred prior to the 16th birthday youth is NOT eligible). 
  • Youth that have a high school diploma or GED and are attending, at least part-time, an accredited post-secondary institution.
Age 

Youth must be enrolled prior to his/her 21st birthday if youth meets the criteria. If the youth participated in the ETV program before his/her 21st birthday, he/she continues to be eligible until the 26th birthday.  Youth must maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and can not receive more than 5 fiscal years.

Accredited School 

  • Youth must attend an accredited school at least half time
    Accredited means the school does any of these: 
    • Awards a Bachelor's degree or not less than a 2-year program that provides credit towards a degree. 
    • Provides training toward gainful employment. 
    • Is a vocational program that provides training for gainful employment and has been in existence for at least two years. 
 ETV Covers  How do youth apply?
 The following school related expenses:
  • Tuition and fees. 
  • Room and board. 
  • Student loans. 
  • Books and school supplies. 
  • Transportation. 
  • Personal, computer/supplies. 
  • Miscellaneous personal expenses. 
  • Health care expenses. 
  • Child care.

  2. ETV Budget Form. 
  3. ETV Financial Aid Release Form. 
  4. Copy of high school diploma or GED. 
  5. Copy of class schedule/enrollment. 
  6. Grade point average of 2.0. 
  7. Copy of financial aid package. 
  8. Copy of cost of tuition. 
  9. Evidence school is accredited
