Communications
February 2021
Vicki, Jackie and JJ have been hard at work on a social media campaign for Black History Month featuring four Michigan civil rights icons. We are very excited about the campaign, which has been well received and supported by our Commission, other state departments and our followers on social media. Learn more about the campaign in a special feature in this edition of CROWN.
Vicki has worked with the Director on comments for presentations at the Berrien County ALPACT and the Response to Bigotry panel discussion. JJ is our livestreamer for MDCR - she livestreamed both the MCRC meeting and the Response to Bigotry panel. Communications partnered with LEO to release a joint statement from MCRC and MAPAAC for Fred Korematsu Day, recognizing his status as a civil rights champion and importance to Japanese Americans especially. JJ, with the assistance of Vicki, developed two scripts for the COVID-19 and Fair Housing educational marketing campaign, and Communications will partner with DPAN to produce the videos for the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing communities. Keep an eye out for them soon! Along with these and other tasks, JJ, as usual, is working on social media to spotlight the great work of MDCR's community events and Zoom sessions, and of course, building the daily news clips email. As always, if you have content to share with clips, email JJ.
We also would like to extend a huge thank you to Jackie Debusschere for her amazing graphic design skills, which have helped make the Black History Month campaign such a success.
