MDCR #BlackHistoryMonth Campaign Widely Shared on SOM Social Media
March 2021
MDCR's #BlackHistoryMonth social media campaign was a hit with other state departments and agencies who shared our posts regularly on their own social platforms. DTMB, MEDC, MDOT, LEO, MDOC, Treasury, DIFS, EGLE and the official SOM social media platforms all posted our inspiring #FourInFocus messages at one point or another during the month, greatly expanding the reach of the campaign and growing the MDCR audience on social.
The Michigan Department of Corrections -- one of the largest departments in state government -- went a step further.
MDOC sends a daily email to every member of their staff. Each day in February, they included in that email our Black History Month graphic and message, sent to more than 12,000 MDOC employees.
MDOC Communications Rep Joelle Craddy forwarded the following message she received from an MDOC team member:
"Thank you for the spotlight on Daisy Elliott. She’s one of my personal heroes as she went on to co-sponsor the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act in Michigan."
Rob Halsey, Human Resources Developer, Michigan Department of Corrections
MDCR's #BlackHistoryMonth social media campaign ended with the month of February, but you can still find all of our posts by searching on the hashtag #FourInFocus on both Facebook and Twitter.
