Equity Office

March 2021

The Equity Office remains actively engaged in the work of DEI collaboration with state agencies as well as educating sectors of our communities, organizations and government on the basic principles of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), implicit bias and steps to increase cultural competency and/or operationalize equity long-term.

In the month of March, the Equity Office continues the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) work with Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MHSDA)’s Core Team and begins IDI work with the Midland Area Community Foundation.

The Equity Office will also be conducting implicit bias training for the City of Dearborn Heights and is scheduled to participate in a racial equity panel discussion with the Michigan Works! Association. The Equity Office continues to facilitate sessions with MDCR’s Council for Government and Education on Equity and Inclusion with a focus on MCRC’s Education Equity Report and it remains an integral part of the COVID-19 Task Force on Racial Disparities.

Furthermore, the Equity Office works closely with the state Equity and Inclusion Officer (EIO) in the Governor’s Office and Equity and Inclusion Officers (EIO) throughout the state to improve the internal DEI structure across all state departments.
