Michigan Civil Rights Commission to Meet March 25, 2013 in Lansing
March 20, 2013
LANSING - The Michigan Civil Rights Commission will hold a regular business meeting on Monday, March 25 at 2:00 pm. This meeting will take place in Room 426 of the State Capitol.
In addition to their general business, the Commission will receive a report on the Directors' Level Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker project. In March 2010, the Michigan Civil Rights Commission issued A Report on the Conditions of Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers in Michigan which included 15 recommendations to improve working conditions for Michigan's migrant and seasonal farmworkers. The report to be issued Monday will recap the efforts coordinated by nine state agencies over the past three years to implement the recommendations.
Also on the agenda is adoption of the year-long research project examining the economic and social impacts of the lack of discrimination protections for gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender people in Michigan. The draft report was presented to the commission in January.
Those who wish to address the Commission on civil rights issues will have the opportunity to speak during the public comment period at the end of the meeting.
If you want to attend and need accommodations to do so, please contact Shawn Sanford at 313-456-3843 by March 22.
Parking is available in nearby public ramps; metered parking may also be available.
