Statement from Director Arbulu on AG's Opinion
July 20, 2018
Lansing – The Michigan Department of Civil Rights has issued the following statement from Director Agustin V. Arbulu on today’s opinion from the Attorney General on the Michigan Civil Rights Commission’s interpretive statement of May 21:
“The Department has just received the Attorney General’s opinion on the interpretive statement and is in the process of reviewing it. The Commission is meeting on Monday and I expect they will discuss the ruling and develop a course of action at that time. We will continue taking and processing complaints, but we will not begin investigating those complaints until after the Commission provides us with direction.”
