MDCR Director Issues Statement on Pride Month

Lansing, MI — Agustin V. Arbulu, Director of the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, has issued the following statement in commemoration of Pride Month.

“In June, we celebrate the many contributions of Michigan’s LGBTQ community and honor the pioneers of their movement toward social justice and inclusion. With the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion on June 28, we recognize that while much has changed in assuring full inclusion for our LGBTQ brethren, there remain ongoing obstacles. Just like every social justice and civil rights movement before it, the march towards full equality, equity and justice is always led by brave people willing to stand up to intolerance and speak truth to power. This bravery ultimately leads us all to being better people and better neighbors.”
