Michigan Department of Civil Rights Files Charges in Two Discrimination Complaints Against the Grand Rapids Police Department

Lansing, MI--The Michigan Department of Civil Rights will hold a news conference in Grand Rapids, MI on Monday, July 25 to announce the Department has filed formal charges of discrimination against the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) in response to two separate complaints.

The news conference will be held at 10 am on July 25, 2022 in the Delta Plaza Room at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Rapids Airport, located at 3333 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49512.

The Department is currently investigating approximately 28 complaints of discrimination filed against the Grand Rapids Police Department.

The Michigan Department of Civil Rights is charged with investigating and resolving complaints of discrimination and working to prevent discrimination through educational programs that promote voluntary compliance with civil rights laws. The Department also provides training and services to government agencies, businesses, schools and organizations on diversity initiatives, fair housing and equal employment law.
