Cheri Duncan, LMSW

DHHS Wellness Counselor

Cheri provides assessment, short-term problem resolution, referral, and follow-up services for Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) employees and family members. Cheri has 17 years of experience in Foster Care with DHHS. She worked as a Services Specialist in a variety of areas and was promoted to Services Program Manager in 2011.  She has prior experience working as a Psychiatric Social Worker in a hospital setting.  Cheri’s education includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University. Cheri understands the stressors for DHHS staff including working with consumers who have challenging barriers, limited resources, and significant trauma. Cheri’s areas of interest include trauma/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), secondary trauma, mindfulness, and overall DHHS stress management and wellness.
