The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) was amended in the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act. The amendments change eligibility criteria for qualifying exigency and covered service member leaves. Amendments to conform to the new federal FMLA provisions have been made to Civil Service Regulation 2.03, Leaves of Absence. These amendments include minor revisions to Standards B.1., B.6.c.(4), B.8, C.4.b., and C.8. In addition, definitions for "covered servicemember" and "FMLA leave of absence" have been revised, and "covered active duty" and "veteran" have been added. In accordance with Standard C of Regulation 1.01, Issuance of Civil Service Regulations, Regulation 2.03 is being issued with an effective date of January 10, 2010.
