State Personnel Director Official Communication 13-01

February 20, 2013
TO: ALL APPOINTING AUTHORITIES, HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICERS, AND RECOGNIZED EMPLOYEE ORGANIZATIONS

FROM: JANET MCCLELLAND, ACTING STATE PERSONNEL DIRECTOR

SUBJECT: CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION RULE 5-6, ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION: MISCELLANEOUS

Staff proposes two amendments to Rule 5-6:

  1. Rule 5-6.3 would be amended to remove references to (a) the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, which previously employed all employees in the listed classes, and (b) unofficial working titles for positions. A recent executive order will move the positions to a new department. The amended rule would refer to just the classification title and the required extensive out-of-state work.

  2.
  3. Rule 5-6.13 would be amended to reflect changes to the lottery sales incentive program authorized in the most recent coordinated compensation process.

The changes to Rule 5-6.3 would take effect upon approval; the changes to Rule 5-6.13 would take effect on October 1, 2013.

The proposed amendments will be considered by the Commission at its next meeting, at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the Capitol Commons Center, 400 South Pine St., Lansing. Comments on the proposed amendments may be addressed to Matthew Fedorchuk, Acting Deputy Director, P.O. Box 30002, Lansing, Michigan, 48909, or Fedorchukm@Michigan.gov. Comments should be received by March 6, 2013.
