Horse racing fans can visit Detroit-area tracks for 39 weekends of live racing next year

Michigan Gaming Control Board issues 2017 race meeting orders

Detroit – Michigan horse racing fans can enjoy 39 weekends of live racing at Detroit area tracks from early March through November 2017 under race meeting orders issued by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

“Northville Downs and Hazel Park Raceway combined will offer live racing during all but three months of next year,” said Richard Kalm, MGCB executive director.  “The 90 racing events in the 2017 schedule include fewer overlapping dates than in 2016.”

Northville Downs was granted 54 days of live standardbred race dates on Fridays and Saturdays next year beginning March 3 through June 10 and resuming Sept. 8 through Nov. 25.  Hazel Park Raceway was granted 36 days of live thoroughbred race dates on Fridays and Saturdays from May 5 through Sept. 2, 2017. Live racing will occur concurrently at the tracks on Fridays and Saturdays from May 5 through June 10.
